Ghana Flower Growers Association is Non-Governmental Organization and floricultural industry trade association. Its formation was in response to fill the knowledge gap and other skill set training for practitioners in the industry. It is also created to provide standards and market accessibility
The formation of the association in 2006 was in response, first and foremost, to fill in the knowledge gap and other skills set training in the best agronomic practices, safe use of agrochemicals, and promoting standardization along the floricultural industry value chain.
We further sought to promote the use of local and indigenous plant species in meeting the landscape horticultural needs of the emerging housing industry as well as the development of the associated urban public spaces so that landscape horticulture will become inexpensive, affordable and accessible.
To this end, the development of desirable ornamental plants, cut flowers, turfgrass and medicinal herb plants for parks, gardens and other recreational facilities that will become a prerequisite to enhancing the health, beauty, property values of our homes and for the increasing urban communities became our pursuit.
It was envisaged that, the development of these suitable plant resources will invariably promote the agenda of safe urban greening and beautification of public spaces and the revitalization of the development of school gardens which was once an important living outdoor resource facility for teaching and learning.
These urban beautification programmes will not only open enormous opportunities in the ecotourism sector, but will ultimately lead to the enhancement of the environmental health, the sustainability of our urban settings as well as the mitigation of the devastating impacts of climate change and variability.
Our mission is to create value from the plant world to enhance the wellbeing of humanity while promoting sustainable biodiversity conservation for succeeding generations.
